Partner/Social Dancing

The adult social/partner dances are taught by Nancy Murphy at the Merrimac, MA studios.

Summer Ballroom at Dance Technics in Merrimac
In summer time, many people go on vacation & can't commit to a full series of dance classes. Recognizing this, we've structured our summer program to be a highly focused hour & a half class meeting twice - just a two week time commitment. See the schedule below!

Registration: MUST be in advance, payment will be at the first meeting of the class. To register, contact Nancy at nancy@dancetechnics.com or 617-393-0254. (mailbox #3 if you get voicemail).
Cost: Each two-week course is $35/person or $65/couple

Course Descriptions

Swing (East Coast style) - This upbeat dance is typically danced to big band music, and can be danced at a variety of tempi. In level 1, we'll start with several basic figures in single time to get dancing, and then will introduce double and triple time footwork variations, and some additional dance figures. Level 2 builds on the fundamentals introduced in level 1, and adds more dance figures. Level 3 is for the experienced Swing dancer, and will expand the dancer's repertoire.

West Coast Swing - This style of Swing is typically danced to Rhythm and Blues music. We'll develop new dance figures while refining partnering technique and body styling for this slotted dance.

Club Latin: Salsa, Merengue, Bachata - If you go to a club that plays latin music, you'll hear Salsa, Merengue and Bachata. Level 1 will present fundamental rhythm and partnering skills for each dance, as well as some additional dance figures to spice things up!

Ballroom - This class will present basic rhythm, partnering skills and fundamental dance figures for Waltz and Foxtrot. A great class to take if you've never danced before!

Hustle - This is the partnered dance that goes to Disco music. Using the fundamental rhythm and partnering techniques presented in level 1, we'll expand the dancer's repertoire of dance figures for this upbeat dance.

Wedding Dance Boot Camp - Spring & summer are a popular time for weddings. Be it your own, your child's or a friend's, many will be attending a wedding in the near future. This class will teach fundamental partnered dance skills for the most popular dance rhythms. You'll be able to take the floor with confidence and ease. We'll learn some basic Slow Dancing, Foxtrot and Swing.
